This is a strategic contract with a Michigan business for compostable items for university events, featuring products from World Centric. BBC Distributing delivers university orders from their warehouse in Grand Rapids, MI.
BBC Distributing has identified sustainable items within their product line that are available for purchase by the University.
Sustainable products/ service
All products, containers, plates, cups, silverware, and more, available from BBC Distributing through Market Site are certified compostable. Our disposable foodservice products are designed to transform waste into healthy, new soil through composting.
To receive this certification, products have to meet three standards set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Under a managed composting program, must 1) break down to carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds, and biomass at a rate consistent to paper, 2) decompose so that the original material is not visually distinguishable, and 3) leave no toxic residue.
There are four identifying logos to show the compostable and biobased nature of the products distributed by BBC.
To properly dispose of compostable products, the appropriate compost containers must be acquired or located. To do this, please contact email@example.com to plan your event or click the link to learn how to locate appropriate bins for post-event compost disposal.
