Learn about accessible travel booking accommodations

The University of Michigan is committed to ensuring equal access to business travel for all employees. We’re pleased to highlight important accommodation options available for employees with disabilities or medical conditions.

Accessibility Challenges with CTP Booking System (Lightning)

Employees who encounter accessibility-related barriers to using the CTP travel booking system may be eligible to book airfare outside the system.

To request this exception, contact the Disability Equity Office and select the “Accommodate Login” button.

Employees approved for booking exceptions:

  • May book airfare using their preferred method (Note: A U-M PCard or Travel Card is the recommended form of payment)
  • Will receive additional guidance on submitting airfare expenses in Emburse Enterprise after exception approval

Travel Accommodations

Some employees with disabilities or medical conditions may be eligible for travel accommodations, such as booking in an airfare class above economy/coach.

To request a travel accommodation, contact the Disability Equity Office or your unit directly.

Employees with an approved travel accommodation must:

  • Add a comment in Emburse Enterprise expense reports noting the covered travel item (e.g., a seat in business class) is for ADA/medical purposes (this can also be done by your delegate)
  • Ensure your expense approver is aware of approved airfare accommodations

Important: Personal Health Information (PHI) should never be included in expense reports to protect employee privacy.

Additional Support Options

Any U-M employee may request travel booking assistance from CTP agents via email or phone instead of using the online booking system—no exception required. As of July 1, 2025, there are no added fees for utilizing agent services.
