Following a recent competitive bid process, Staples has been awarded a new university-wide contract and will continue to provide office supplies through the Staples catalog in Marketsite+. The new contract also expands Staples’ role to include ink and toner, breakroom supplies, coffee, and office coffee services.
Two current supplier contracts are ending soon:
- Smart Business Source for ink and toner expires June 30, 2026. Ink and toner purchases should be made through the Staples catalog in Marketsite+, as the Smart Business Source catalog has been removed.
- AVI Foodsystems for breakroom supplies, coffee, and office coffee services expires July 31, 2026. Beginning August 1, 2026, these purchases should be made through the Staples catalog in Marketsite+, as the AVI Foodsystems catalog will be removed.
Staples and AVI are working together to coordinate the coffee equipment transition, with new equipment expected to be in place by the end of 2026. If you are responsible for coffee equipment in your area, please complete the U-M Coffee Equipment & Location Confirmation form by Friday, July 17, 2026, to help support the transition.
Staples representatives will begin contacting U-M units directly to coordinate the transition to new coffee equipment and schedule installation. Representatives will be on site July 8–15 for an initial round of equipment surveys, with additional visits expected as the transition continues. Please be aware of their presence and provide assistance as needed.
