Worldwide travel advisory issued by U.S. State Department

On October 23, 2023, the U.S. State Department issued a Worldwide Caution, due to increased tensions in various locations around the world.

The advisory states there is a potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations, or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, and urges U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution.

The State Department’s  recommendations for U.S. citizens include::

• Staying alert in locations frequented by tourists
• Enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts and make it easier to locate travelers  in  emergencies overseas
• Following the department on Facebook and Twitter
