Since the U-M Amazon Business account launched in May, Procurement Services and Finance Customer Care have gathered helpful insights. Here are some tips to make your shopping experience easier:
- Payment: PCard is the only accepted payment method. If you don’t have a PCard, share your shopping list with an appropriate purchaser in your unit.
- Login: Use your @umich.edu email address; extensions like @med.umich.edu or @umflint.edu won’t work with SSO.
- Subscriptions: If you had Subscribe and Save subscriptions in a personal account, cancel them and re-subscribe in the U-M Business account. Subscriptions may not transfer automatically.
- Restricted items: Yellow-flagged items can be purchased at the department’s discretion; red-flagged items are prohibited. Restrictions are based on category codes, and items may be misclassified by Amazon. Contact Procurement Services if you need help with a mistakenly restricted item.
- Returns: Refunds to your PCard are easier for transaction reconciliation, but you can also request an Amazon credit.
