The University of Michigan has finalized a new agreement with American Airlines, expanding travel benefits for faculty and staff on official university business. This contract, available when booking through the university’s designated travel agency (CTP) via the U-M Travel Booking Tool or with agent assistance, provides negotiated airfare discounts and several valuable perks designed to make travel more efficient and comfortable.
Through this partnership, U-M travelers will receive:
- Discounts of 2-8% on applicable fares
- Complimentary Preferred Seating options toward the front of the Main Cabin, including aisle and window seats
- Group 4 boarding
- Priority check-in
- Access to expedited security lanes, where available
- Disruption recovery benefits, which ensure that U-M travelers receive higher priority when being re-accommodated during irregular operations, helping to maintain their original seat and cabin selections whenever possible
Special Status Match Promotion (through October 31):
American Airlines is offering a limited-time status match to U-M business travelers who currently hold elite status on other airlines. You can:
- Receive a status tier one level higher (for Gold/Platinum equivalents) or maintain your top-tier (Platinum Pro/Executive Platinum) status with American’s AAdvantage® program
