In recognition of Veterans Day, Procurement Services is highlighting veteran-owned suppliers that do business with U-M and our employees who served in the military.
Veteran-owned businesses not only offer valuable products and services to our community, but also embody the dedication and resilience that veterans represent. It’s important to raise awareness about the significant contributions that veteran-owned businesses make to U-M and encourage further support of these businesses.
In FY 2024, U-M spent approximately $5.3 million across nearly 125 veteran-owned (VBEs) and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSBs), of which $4.2 million was spent with 46 Michigan-based businesses. Within those 46 businesses, U-M spent over $100,000 (each) with nine of them. These businesses are:

- The Brill Company, Inc.
- Metropolitan Baking Company
- Riverside Fire & Security LLC
- Electramed Corporation
- Reliable Delivery
- Young Supply Company
- Cusacks Masonry Restoration, Inc.
- Lake Orion Window Treatments, Inc.
Procurement Services also honors the courageous individuals on our team who have served in the military. These employees bring invaluable experience and unique insights to our operations and their commitment to both service and the workplace is impressive.
In particular, we’d like to extend our gratitude to Brad Henion, procurement agent, who spent a decade in the military. “I had half a military career—eight years in the Marines and two in the Army,” Brad said. In addition, we want to thank all our veterans for their courage, strength, and dedication to keeping us safe.
