Topic: Procurement Team Reorganization

How will the organizational changes impact Procurement’s ability to fulfill requests in a timely manner and help units save money?

Different procurement functions require different skills and approaches. Shifting to a functional organizational structure will allow our staff to focus on their core competencies, such as strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, and transactional procurement.

How will the Procurement teams be structured under the new model?

 The organizational changes will include:
  • A PO Center focused on expedited price and compliance checks for transactions under $50,000, triage for requisitions $50,000 and above, and general questions, contract and sourcing requests.
  • Category Management Teams staffed by procurement agents specializing in the formal bidding process for purchases $50,000 and above and supplier relationship management for specific commodities.
  • A Strategic Sourcing Team responsible for leading complex, high impact sourcing and contracting events, with a focus on expanding university contracts and driving innovation.
