Sustainability

Nichols has identified their company outlook on sustainability and has clearly defined sustainable items within their product line that are available for purchase by the University.

Sustainable products/service:

• Products that you purchase from Nichols that carry a certification or contain post-consumer recycled content that meet the EPA’s Green Purchasing Guidelines will show in Nichols M-Marketsite catalog with an icon for the certification that the product carries. To search sustainable products, locate the category ‘Green Products’ and further refine by identifying ‘Attributes’. Product categories that are identified with green certification icons are skin care, paper products, trash can liners, and cleaning chemicals. You will see a recycle symbol for those products that meet the EPA’s requirement for post-consumer recycled content.

Nichols achieved the highest ENERGY STAR^® score (90 out of 100) of all DEAL participants.
  • LEED Operations + Maintenance Version 4.0 – Warehouse and Distribution Center – Gold achieved in October 2015 for Norton Shores, MI headquarters and distribution center
  • Michigan Battle of the Buildings: 1^st place in 2014 in the building category with a decrease in energy usage of 7% and 2nd place in 2015 with a reduction of 10.84%
